The International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD) is an independent, non-profit, and non-governmental organization that aims to influence the international trade system such that it advances the goal of sustainable development. In 1997 ICTSD launched “Bridges”, a suite of publications that today commands more than 30,000 subscriptions. Over the past decade, each periodical had slowly adopted divergent elements of design, thus causing a lack of uniform brand identity. ICTSD asked us to restyle the suite and its electronic newsletter in order to present a new layout with standard elements that function seamlessly with Latin, Cyrillic and Chinese characters. The new suite also required simple implementation by several international editorial teams with divergent levels of technical ability. Each publication was required to focus on presenting a high-level of readability, both in printed and digital forms.
